An interview for bold journey Magazine

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Valentina Menasche a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Valentina, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
At 6 years old in the middle of an evening with my mother I told her I wanted to be a fashion designer, at that exact time I decided on the name of my brand and the path began, in a way I made a promise to myself that day, I made a promise to that little girl… I felt like that was it, my path, there was something inside me that just lit up. of course, as the years passed and I got more into the fashion world, doubts and lows came but the highs were and are so high that I just envision where I know I can get, the talent I have and where it can get me, so basically my resilience comes from believing in my talent, in my art, in myself.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Menasche is the name of my brand but more than a brand, menasche is a movement, which wants to help people feel for real, feel comfortable and histrionic in their body, to always sense like living in their own personal movie, we handle high-quality textiles and various transformation methods for it, which help to generate textures and sensations to the touch, the contrast between maximalist and tight-fitting silhouettes is quite noticeable in the brand, we work more than anything with feminine and unisex garments, the archetype of client is the perfect mix between rebellious and classy, menasche has launched to date 5 fashion films, 5 drops or mini collections that send and reflect a message of consciousness and connection between the human being and their highest being, we have created 2 fashion social events, “menasche” is already dressing artists in Colombia such as juliana velsquez and simonsavi; We have dressed ballerinas, been in editorials, also present at Bogota Fashion Week, Colombia Fashion Week, inaugurations of brands like H&M, etc… Somehow each collection is a physical reflection of my life, my greatest inspiration is the world, it is life, that’s why I try to give my best every day and enjoy. With my team we are working on the production of two new collections that will be launched before the end of 2023, I am currently working and finishing my studies in Colombia, I will soon start in New York so I am ready and excited for the new seasons that are coming for me.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Experimenting, being constant, and trusting in myself even though there has been a lot more I definitely would say that everything I’ve gone through, everything I’ve learned from the people and the world that surrounds me has helped me shape who I am and my artistic process.
As a piece of advice, I would say, “If you have a dream, a passion that just gives your life and you want to archive greatness, work for it, give your 100% every day, and if you do not feel capable, create an alter ego, an unstoppable version of yourself, a super “you” give it a name, a personality, create the way it moves and rely on it, soon enough that character will completely merge with you, trust in your gut and when you fall to find the strength within you to reborn will al you’ve to learn… stop worrying about finding your essence and yourself to start, trust me the process will help you decipher who you are and what you’re made of.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

Tracing a line between external comments and what I know I am capable of, I had always tried to make other people proud, even when they repeatedly showed me how much they believed I was not cable of anything, but when I traced that line and started believing in myself more than anyone ever could, the moment I started doing what I felt was the right thing, started accepting areas of myself I didn’t before I exploded my full potential at the time, I work on growing that potential every day, so definitely my biggest improvement in the past year has been getting to know Valentina Menasche and believing in her more than anyone.
